A HEART FOR HELPING OTHERS

At Williamsport Retirement Village, attitude is as important as aptitude, and we look for a generous heart in every staff member we hire. That’s why one of our most distinguishing features is our remarkable staff. They like working here, and it shows in the special way they touch the lives of all who live, work and visit our community.

FROM ONE WOMAN’S VISION

Located near the junction of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Williamsport Retirement Village opened in 1972 as the second community operated by the not-for-profit Brooke Grove Foundation. The Foundation’s commitment to well-being and outstanding service began with one woman’s vision.

In 1950, registered nurse Eleanor Howe Marston opened her farmhouse in Sandy Spring, Maryland, to older adults who could no longer live on their own. She began the tradition of “touching people’s lives” with a commitment to treating the whole person and a philosophy of service and care that has become Brooke Grove Foundation’s trademark.

Her son Carl Howe became the first licensed nursing home administrator in Maryland, a position that allowed him to help set the standards for care that regulate the industry. For over 70 years, Brooke Grove Foundation has been an industry leader in assisted living, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s services.

Today, one woman’s dream of compassion and kindness continues to be reflected in the people who fill Williamsport Retirement Village with energy and spirit.

LIFE® PRINCIPLES

Our mission to enhance the lives of residents, fellow staff, family members and visitors to our community drives everything we do and is central to our LIFE® principles. LIFE® is an acronym that stands for Living Well Together, Individual Discovery, Family Matters and Enriching Experiences.
